Make a Tooth Fairy Pillow
This is an easy idea that you may not have thought of before. A Tooth Fairy Pillow!
You can make these out of any cotton fabrics, but it's very easy to
tie to the theme of your child's room or favorite Disney Character if
you make it with Disney Fabric.
Cut two pieces of fabric about 6 inches square. Then create a
small pocket the size of your choice (about 2" square works well) for
the tooth pocket out of two pieces of fabric that are the same size.
You can also use a tiny coin pocket from a pair of jeans (found in the
front pockets) or you can just use a tiny back pocket from a pair of
child's jeans. If you are making the pocket out of fabric, sew the two
small squares right sides together but keep a small unsewn section that
you can use to reverse the material. After reversing the material,
press it with the cut edge of the fabric tucked in.
Sew the tiny pocket on the front and center of one piece of the
fabric you have cut for the pillow. If you would like to personalize
the pillow, you can embroider the child's name on the piece at this
time, or use fabric paint. Next, sew the 2 pieces of fabric together
with the right sides together with a 1/2 inch seam on the outside,
leaving an unsewn gap so you can reverse the pillow and insert stuffing
(a 1" to 2" gap is enough). Stuff the pillow with soft polyester fiber
fill and then sew the seam shut.
You now have a Disney tooth fairy pillow. Your child has a special
place to put the tooth in the tiny pocket on the front which keeps it
from getting lost during the night. The tooth fairy replaces the tooth
with a coin, bill, toy or note for your child to discover the next
morning. (The note may be a treasure map to a larger item if this is
your tradition).
